Launched in 1958, the TVR Grantura was the archetype of the sports car: tubular frame, 4 independent wheels, fiberglass body... With a weight of just 650kg, the car offered exceptional performance for the time. 400 units of the Mk II were produced between 1960 and 1961. TVR took part in the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours with a Grantura MK III. Chassis 7B252 was registered new in England in April 1961 and was fitted with a 1622cc BMC engine. Well-known in the TVR club by its original registration number, 2008 WY, it was kept for 28 years by its first owner, before it passed into the ownership of a collector who took part in numerous events and won several prizes, complementing the exceptional state of conservation of the car. Between 2006 and 2010, the car was restored, bare chassis, retaining the beautiful original upholstery and a 5-speed gearbox was fitted (the original piece will be delivered with the car). For the engine, Hurley rebuild the original 1622cc engine, retaining the 2 SU’s cylinder head and the HRG Engineering rocker cover that was previously fitted in the car. Registered in France since 2011, this exceptional TVR comes with an impressive history folder, including invoices, photos, letters, technical documentation, period articles and even a period user manual. This Grantura is just the right car for a gentleman driver to hit the road and to participate in the most prestigious events as Goodwood.
