When the TR6 appeared in 1968, it was based on the existing engineering of the TR5 and TR250. The chassis, suspension, doors, windshield, and part of the bodywork were retained. Karmann was brought in to redesign the exterior and, with relatively straightforward changes, managed to create a car that looked noticeably more modern and purposeful. And let’s be honest: more than fifty years later, a TR6 still looks fantastic.

Under the hood lies the familiar 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine. It is not only the performance that makes this engine so appealing, but above all the sound. That deep, rich six-cylinder note simply belongs to a TR6. Start it, give it a little throttle, and you immediately understand why the TR6 has attracted so many enthusiasts.

This example dates from 1976, the very final year of TR6 production. The last car left the factory on July 14 of that year, bringing a chapter of almost eight years to a close.
This TR6 underwent a complete body-off restoration in the early 2000s. And the person responsible for that restoration had, to put it mildly, very high standards.

The body was removed from the chassis and the car was then thoroughly rebuilt. The objective was not simply to make it presentable, but to achieve a genuinely high-quality finished result. More than twenty years later, what is perhaps even more impressive is just how well this Triumph still presents today. The car remains in beautiful condition.

British Racing Green combined with a Biscuit-colored interior creates a color scheme that could hardly be more British. Green, beige, wood on the dashboard, and that characteristic six-cylinder engine up front: sometimes a recipe simply does not need to be changed.

Another welcome feature is the overdrive. On this later TR6, the system operates in third and fourth gears and significantly reduces engine speed on longer journeys. It is a detail that makes the TR6 a much more pleasant touring car once you leave the winding back roads behind.

This TR6 is also accompanied by an extensive photographic record of the restoration. This allows you to see not only the finished result, but also just how thoroughly the work was carried out at the time. And perhaps that is exactly what makes this TR6 so appealing. It is beautiful enough to admire for hours, yet it was certainly not built simply to stand still. Top down, six-cylinder engine up front, overdrive engaged, and that deep exhaust note in the background.
