Introduced in October 1955, the Triumph TR3 was an evolution of the TR2 and quickly gained success. Capable of reaching 170 km/h and delivering dynamic driving sensations, the TR3 stood out with aesthetic improvements such as a wider grille and repositioned headlights, giving the car a more modern look. With the introduction of the TR3A in 1957, the model saw further refinement. For the first time, door handles were added, and front disc brakes—a significant innovation at the time—improved safety and performance.
Produced until 1962, this sporty little roadster became the flagship of the British marque. The TR3A is easily recognizable by its "big mouth" grille, which spans the front of the car. Nearly 60,000 units were produced, a testament to its popularity. Under the hood, the TR3A features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, true to Triumph's sporty spirit, offering a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
The model we present is a 1962 example. It was purchased by its current owner in 1990 from Cecil Cars. Since then, this Triumph TR3A has undergone a restoration a few years ago, including bodywork, upholstery, and mechanical components. This restoration is documented with a comprehensive file of invoices, attesting to the care taken in its upkeep.
This vehicle is also equipped with the sought-after overdrive, enhancing driving comfort, particularly on longer journeys.
This TR3A offers its future owner a blend of sporty and enjoyable driving, making it ideal for those starting a collection or exploring the scenic roads of France.
