What a picture! The Triumph TR250 has always been a thing of beauty to behold, but since its complete restoration it has become an even more alluring classic car. This Triumph TR 250 hit the roads for the first time on the 30th June 1968. It was exported to the Netherlands in 2002. At this time the once so stunning British roadster had become a solid restoration base. The new owner decided to take a rigorous approach, restoring and mechanically overhauling the car over the following years. If you asked us to describe in one word what was done, we would have to say; Everything! The complete restoration was photographically recorded. The original owner’s manual forms part of the documentation. The bodywork was taken back to bare metal and repaired where necessary. The chassis was replaced with a fetching new black power-coated one. Mechanically the car was totally taken in hand and rebuilt using many new replacement parts. From big-end bearings to crankshaft seal, everything has been replaced. It was truly a pure-sang nut & bolt restoration. When all of the above had been completed, the bodywork was reunited with its chassis. You could say that this was the car’s second marriage of body and sole. The bodywork and hood frame were then spay-painted black and a new canvas hood was fitted, which is still in very good shape. A tonneau cover is also part of the deal. You can guess what the eventual result was like. Even when it was first built in the Triumph factory they could not have given as much attention to detail as was given during this restoration; and simply because it is not possible to build with such perfection in serial production. To compliment the lovely external features, the interior trim was given as much attention as the rest. The car boasts fine black carpets and lovely tan leather upholstery. The fact that the previous owner enjoyed restoring the car more than actually driving it, is to your own benefit. This is optimal “turn-key” classic driving ecstasy. The bodywork is still very good and the chassis is as good as new. The paintwork show hardly any signs of use and still has a deep black lustre. During the restoration the wheels were powder-coated in the original grey colour. The Tan leather upholstery is in perfect condition as is the burr-wood dashboard. All switches and instruments are in fine condition and good working order. Mechanically the car excels. The wonderful 2.5 litre straight-six is in peak health. The engine runs perfectly and sounds great. The sharp intake of breath is a delight to listen to as the twin carburettors do their job breathing in through the cold-air filters. The exhaust fumes part company with the car via a full stainless steel exhaust system, adding to pleasure had from this Triumph TR250’s delicious road handling. The transmission is supple and sure-footed. When driving everything demonstrates the good job done mechanically during the restoration.
