Considered by many to be the last of the traditional British sports cars, the Triumph TR6 was the last of a long and fine line of fast and affordable open two-seaters. Its origins lie in the TR2 of 1953 which evolved into the first of the similarly Belgrove-styled TR3/TR3A and then the Michelotti-penned TR4 and TR4A.
When launched in 1968, the TR6 received a warm welcome and was regarded as the spiritual successor to the muscular Austin Healey 3000. Cars from 1973 onwards used a softer camshaft and revised fuel injection. The gearbox was also given new ratios and the optional overdrive was also improved, as was the facia, while the bodywork received a chin spoiler to improve stability.
This TR6 was purchased by the current owner and restored in 2001 by Crown Classic Cars of St Margarets at a cost of over £14
