Beschreibung

"The ‘Stag’ name was a development codename allocated when the design project was initiated by Giovanni Michelotti in 1965. None of the subsequent names suggested through the process were ever deemed more compelling. 55 years later the Triumph Stag occupies one of the cornerstones of the collector’s car market. The svelte Michelotti styling married to decadent V8 power makes this model both beautiful to look at and enormous fun to drive. Add to that a thriving club network, makes for hugely desirable ownership.
Registered on 1st February 1975, this privately entered Stag is finished in the rare ‘Topaz’ colour scheme with black interior and comes with its original factory hardtop and hardtop stand. Our vendor purchased the vehicle from Historics in September 2020, it was entered by the previous owner who purchased the car in January 2019 as a ‘Condition 1’ vehicle. JBN 370N had been subject to a bare metal renovation for which there is a dedicated colour hardback book in the history file photographically documenting the work. However, the then owner, in search of perfection, also commissioned Stag Specialists E.J. Ward Motor Engineers, in September 2019, at a cost of £5400 to rebuild the engine fully with the addition of uprated oil pump. Trevor Farrington Ltd refitted the engine along with the refurbished automatic gearbox and, over a 13 month period, the car spent most of its time at their workshops receiving further various improvements, including uprated radiator, electric water pump conversion, new steering rack, brakes, driveshafts, alternator, premium tyres, headlining, sill covers and a host of other refinements. All in all, the cost for this work amounted to over £34,500 on top of the cost of the aforementioned engine rebuild and the owner’s not inconsiderable outlay for the car in the first place. Consequently, the car wanted for very little and was reported to drive as if new, although possibly with greater reliability. Since its purchase in 2020 however, during the pandemic personal reasons have meant that this car has remained in a professional storage facility and our vendor is now selling the car in the same condition as when offered just a year ago. There is a substantial history file accompanying the car which covers the majority of its life and includes the original Triumph Passport style Service booklet. This represents a very rare and tempting opportunity to own one of the best Stags in the country."
