Towards the end of the 1950s, Standard-Triumph was enjoying great success with its range of two seater Triumph sports cars which were offered alongside a range of Standard saloons. The company started work on the Herald in the 1960s and by 1967 the range was updated with the introduction of the Herald 13/60 with a restyled front end using the bonnet of the Triumph Vitesse, but with single rather than twin headlights, to give a sleeker, more modern appearance, while the interior substantially revised, though still featuring the traditional wooden dashboard.
