Beschreibung

Starting price 10,000.00 JPY.

This is a late model manual Sera that rarely appears on the used market due to the small number of units available. The odometer shows 161,595 km. The door dampers have weakened, but these parts are readily available. There is also some damage on the right side after the door. Addressing these two issues would make this a great example of a special car famous for its design which incorporates butterfly wings and glass canopy.
The Toyota Sera is the production version of the AXV-II concept car, which was revealed at the 27th Tokyo Motor Show in 1987. The Sera's most distinctive feature is its ‘glassy cabin', Toyota used the catchphrase "All-Weather Open", meaning those in the car could enjoy views like when in an open car in all weather conditions. The base model was the fourth generation (P70) Starlet. To cope with the increased weight due to the glass roof, the 1.3-litre engine for the Starlet was replaced by a 1.5-litre straight-4 DOHC 16-valve engine, which was used in the Corolla and other models. In addition, as a measure against the greenhouse effect caused by the glass canopy, the car was equipped with a more powerful air conditioner as used in the Mark II and other models. The number of units produced for the domestic market was 15,982, and around 1,000 for overseas markets. Almost all of these were AT models, which means examples with 5-speed manuals are very on the used market.
