Beschreibung
The 4th generation Crown was released in 1971. From this generation onward, the name "Toyopet" was changed to "Toyota Crown". Toyota understood that Japan was growing in the 1970s and that there would be more demand for higher-end yet practical vehicles.
The spindle shape of this model makes use of a curved line, which was a move not accepted by some convervative fans. However, the charm of the design won over the fans, and it is now nicknamed “the whale”.
In addition, Toyota's aimed to advance the mechanics of the Crown, with the 4th generation Crown being the first "4M type" 3 number model equipped with a 2600cc engine, EFI (electronically controlled fuel injection) specifications. It is also the world's first model equipped with an idling stop function, which is the basis for modern automobile technology.
This particular vehicle is the station wagon type "Crown Custom" that appeared in 1973. The odometer displays 75,080km. The front and rear seats seat three people each. The luggage area is equipped with rear-facing side seats which can accommodate an additional 2 people.
This car is not mobile following many years spent in storage. However, there is potential for restoration as the exterior has minor deterioration and the interior has no cracks on the dashboard.
