Beschreibung
In September 1985, at the IAA in Frankfurt, the 4th generation of the Toyota Celica, built since autumn 1970, was presented. For the first time the popular sports car boasted front wheel drive and a 4-cylinder engine, installed transversely with 140 horsepower. The cabriolet, available from 1987 was, for German and Swiss markets, converted by the Voll company in Würzburg, (sport targa cabriolet) and for the US and Japan markets by ASC in Michigan (full cabriolet). The cars were always marketed by Toyota. The example offered was delivered in Switzerland and is one of only 200 cars converted in Würzburg. The sporty little Japanese was first registered to a lady in the Zurich area on the 1st of May 1987. For a more sporting appearance 15 inch Fondmetal aluminium rims were installed and registered. In 1989, the lady purchased another cabriolet and sold the Toyota back to the original dealer. He added the rare Celica to his small collection and used it for occasional fair-weather outings. Over the past 38 years the cabriolet has covered 116’000 kilometres and has enjoyed regular maintenance. The last cambelt replacement was completed at 80’000 kilometres. With two owners and a full service booklet the Celica is in very good original condition and will be sold with the most recent veteran MOT from August 2023 to a new enthusiast/collector of Japanese sports cars.
