Beschreibung

The Sunbeam Tiger was developed by the Rootes Group and Carroll Shelby as a budget alternative for the AC Cobra 289. By changing the engine from the Alpine by the Ford small block V8 260Ci, they created quite a spectacular sportscar. Most of the Tigers went to the USA, but it remained quite rare with a total of only 7128 units produced. This example was one of the 8 examples delivered to Portugal, and remained in remarkably good condition due the mild climate. These days, Tigers are even rarer, and finding one with European specification is exceptional.

The car we offer for sale is one of the original Tigers and not an Alpine upgraded to Tiger specification. It was partially restored in 2002 : the rustfree body was repainted, and the engine completely overhauled. The interior and softtop are still the original one, and look great with just the right amount of patina. It is a late Mk1a version, of which only 2706 examples were made. It comes with the desirable metal hardtop,

The last owner did a long distance rally in Argentina last year, without a single problem. This is definitely a great Sunbeam Tiger which is ready for use. This V8 powered classic British roadster is a very underrated sportscar which starts to become appreciated and sought after. This superb Tiger is now available for viewing in our showroom, and ready for an exciting test drive.
