Beschreibung

1976 SIMCA 1000 RALLYE 2
French vehicle registration certificate
Chassis No. SIND17P146992
French origin
- Same owner since 2011
- Restored in 2012
- Legendary model
- Rare on the market
Launched in September 1972 by Simca, the Rallye 2 established itself as the icon of the popular small sports cars of the 1970s. Based on the legendary Simca 1000 with its rear-mounted engine, this powerful version features a 1,294 cm³ 4-cylinder engine fed by two twin-barrel carburetors, producing up to 86 ch. To optimize balance and cooling, the engineers moved the radiator to the front and equipped the car with four disc brakes, enabling it to exceed 170 km/h while weighing just 860 kg. A true queen of hill climbs and a symbol of the Simca Racing Team, it made motorsports accessible to the masses by allowing thousands of amateurs to race at a lower cost. With over 15,000 units produced before being absorbed into the Talbot group, it was later replaced by the spectacular Rallye 3.
The example we are offering is a 1976 Simca 1000 Rallye 2, purchased in 2011 by its current owner, after it underwent a restoration in 2010 by Garage MD, a shop specializing in classic cars and best known for preparing vehicles for the Dakar Rally. It has been maintained by the same garage ever since.
Please note that the carburetors and intake manifolds are not original. The ones currently installed are from a Rallye 3. The original parts will be included with the car. The current wheels are aluminum; the steel wheels will also be included with the car.
An unrivaled icon of the popular sports cars of the 1970s, the Rallye 2 left its mark on an entire generation by combining compact size, rear-wheel drive, and a passion for auto racing that was accessible to everyone.
