History:
CSX2501 is an authentic Shelby Cobra, registered in the Shelby Registry with documented history. Originally delivered in September 1964 as a silver roadster. This example has undergone several restorations throughout its life.
Following these events, in 1998, Mike McCluskey, a renowned Cobra specialist, acquired the chassis and began a complete rebuild under the supervision of Carroll Shelby himself. The chassis was sandblasted and reinforced before receiving the specific Daytona bodywork. All mechanical components comply with original specifications, except for the brakes, which have been upgraded with a Wilwood system. The restoration took approximately 15 months.
The car’s history is thoroughly detailed thanks to numerous documents held by the owner. This car is one of eight Shelby Daytona Coupes rebuilt by McCluskey, a highly sought-after model that played a major role in the history of American motorsport.
An in-depth appraisal was conducted in February 2025. It covers all elements of the car: its history and condition in great detail. This appraisal is available upon request.
