"Before David Plastow left his senior position at Rolls-Royce following the take-over of Vickers plc, he had been responsible for a series of models, amongst which was the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit. It was unveiled in October 1980 as a replacement for the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. The coachwork of the Silver Spirit had been designed at the in-house styling centre by Fritz Feller and gave the impression of being stretched in comparison with the bodies of the previous generation. Direct comparison, however, showed only small differences. The new models had slightly grown in length and width; height had been cut a little, although the styling was more modern than that of its predecessor. The interior was dominated by the expected combination of fine wood and sumptuous leather, and it was also the first Rolls-Royce to be fitted with a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. The long-wheelbase version was called the Silver Spur, four inches longer than the Spirit.
This Rolls-Royce was originally supplied by Lex Mead at Maidenhead on 16th September 1987 and has clearly been well cared for, the history folder contains a host of well documented invoices, together with original letters from the supplying dealer confirming the order and delivery of the car. Finished in Black with Magnolia interior, the additional extras on this Silver Spur include a hide headlining and top roll, lockable lid to centre console and cocktail requisites to the rear. An electrically operated sunroof is also fitted to the rear as are picnic tables. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a good history folder, together with an MoT test certificate valid until 12th May 2023. With an invoice price of £90,845.83 this Rolls-Royce looks to be good value given its very modest mileage of only 31,673.
