Beschreibung

"This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY
Launched in 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was regarded by many as the finest in the company's history and indeed was proudly advertised as ‘the best car in the world’. It was powered by the 6250cc, all aluminium-alloy V8 engine and supplied with a four speed GM derived automatic gearbox as standard equipment. The most obvious cosmetic change was the introduction of four headlight lighting and combining the side lights with the indicators to the front of the wings. Inside the car was improved with separate front seats, an increase in the room for rear passengers and a better ventilation system. The Silver Cloud III, with such a majestic presence would become the first choice for celebrities and aristocrats in the early 1960s.
This very good, three owners from new, Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was supplied by Jack Barclay Ltd. of Barclay Square to Mr. David Garner, Allostock, Cheshire and registered as DG 385 in February 1965. The car was supplied with electric windows and Marcell parking lights. The second owner Mr. Brian Dignan also based in Cheshire acquired the Cloud III 16 years later in April 1981 when the current age-related number plate was fitted. The current owner purchased the car in September 1985 after being convinced by friends at a dinner party that he should own such a car. During his ownership he has used the car very sparingly only putting a few miles on the odometer, in fact less than 4,500 miles since 1985. In this time the car has been very well maintained including regular servicing, the brakes have been gone through several times and a new exhaust system fitted. Finished in the tradition Rolls-Royce colour scheme of Sable over Sand, the lower half was repainted in the original colour in 2011. The interior beige leather has recently benefited from a light Connolly redress, but the walnut veneered woodwork requires polishing. This Silver Cloud III is supplied with a V5 registration document, plus the two previous registration documents and a file containing invoices going back to 1996, old MoT test certificates going back to 1985 confirming the low mileage and copies from the RREC of the original chassis cards including the first bill of sale. With only 2,044 standard steel saloons built between 1962 and 1966, it is rare to find such an original example in such good condition.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
