HISTORY OF THE ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM V
Rolls-Royce introduced the Phantom V in 1959. This ultra-exclusive model was based mechanically on the Silver-Cloud II with the 6.2-Litre V8 engine providing adequate power for city and country driving. Phantom V bodies were exclusively coach-built with H.J. Mulliner, Park Ward, and James Young providing a select number of tailored body styles to suit the likes of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Shah of Iran and even legendary musician John Lennon. Only 516 Phantom V chassis were manufactured by Rolls-Royce up to 1968; 101 examples received the Touring Limousine design by James Young Coachwork and 48 were built with left-hand drive. With its exclusive styling and luxury, the James Young Touring Limousine Phantom V is widely regarded as one of the best Rolls-Royce designs and examples are highly regarded among collectors today.
