Beschreibung
"Rolls-Royce Motors formed Mulliner Park Ward by the 1961 merger of two Rolls-Royce subsidiaries: Park Ward of Willesden, London, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1939 and H. J. Mulliner & Co. of Chiswick, a Rolls-Royce subsidiary since 1959. Mulliner Park Ward continues to operate as the vehicle customisation division of Bentley Motors Limited, the successor of Rolls-Royce Motors. The Corniche was a development of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with the two-door variants of that model marketed as the ‘Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward’ two-door fixedhead coupé and convertible, the very handsome coachwork design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupé, the Corniche name was applied from 1971 for all two-door coupés and convertibles. The car used the standard Rolls-Royce V8, 6750cc engine, with an aluminium-silicon alloy block and aluminium cylinder heads with cast iron wet cylinder liners mated to a three-speed automatic transmission from General Motors.
This magnificent Rolls-Royce has recently been restored by Auto Audio in London and as such presents in beautiful condition. The paintwork is finished in Magenta and is to concours quality and the contrasting cream leather trim is to an equal standard. The mauve seat piping is a great addition. The walnut dashboard has been refurbished and any chromework around the car that needed refurbishing has also been taken care of. Mechanically, these cars are very robust with the 6750cc capable of eye-watering mileage, the long-legged gearbox ensures these cars are never ‘over-stressed’. The hood mechanism works as it should ‘at-the-touch -of-a-button’. The stereo system has a USB upgrade and the original 8-track system is still in place although we are advised it is not working; the vendor has included a box of 8-track tapes if any new owner wishes to re-instate the system. Very few of these stunning machines were painted in Magenta, famously the circus maestro Billy Smart had one bearing the registration BS 1. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a comprehensive history folder, this is without doubt a car to put a smile on your face. The quality of this Mulliner Park Ward convertible needs to be seen to be appreciated.
