- One of the first Corniches
- 40 years in sunny California
- Only three owners
- No reserve
Designed by Bill Allen and produced by Mulliner Park Ward, the Corniche accurately reflected the stylistic features of the Silver Shadow and its mechanical characteristics: evidence of its success was the model's 25-year career, in which time 7,000 Corniches were sold.
This car dating from 1971 is therefore one of the first Rolls Royce Corniche produced. The car was sold new in California Beverly Hills its first owner, who had the car till 2002, when it was sold to his nephew. The latter owned the car for 10 years and it was eventually sold in 2012 in our Retromobile auction. The car has always remained in the California sun and shows no trace of oxidation or of any accident. It now boasts 70,485 miles and is in good original condition, whether it's the equipment, as well as the leather, the wood and the carpet. The body was repainted in the 1990s in the original color. In mechanical terms, it has the same powertrain. The engine is in very good condition, appears to be very refined and oil pressure is excellent. Brakes, hydraulics, electrical have all been revised and the driving condition of the car is indeed very good. Among the Rolls-Royces available in the market, it is rare to find an example of one that has a past that is so clean and well documented. Plus the fact that it is a model from the very first generation, a peaceful automatic that makes this car so very special.
