Beschreibung

1972 Rolls Royce Corniche convertible.
Three-owner car.
Previous concourse winning car.

Interest in the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow four-door saloon might have waned for a long time and has only recently seen signs of recovering, but the same could never been said of the glamorous Corniche. Based on the Shadow, these two door coupes and convertibles have always been “special,” especially the latter drop top, and demand has been consistently strong. Delivered new to its first owner, from Brighton (Victoria), direct from the 1972 Earls Court Motor Show in London, the Corniche toured Europe before being brought back to Australia. Now with its third owner, the Rolls is showing just 65,042 miles (at the time of cataloguing), believed genuine, and has been cherished, so it's no surprise that the Corniche convertible presents in great condition. It is finished in a deep, lustrous dark metallic blue which is in lovely shape save for a little blemish to the left-side of the boot lid. The chrome brightwork sparkles too, with only a small scuff to the left corner of the rear bumper. It sits on a set of correct hubcapped steel wheels with thin whitewalls, and to go with the luxury of a Rolls Royce a black powered roof too. The cabin is trimmed in beige Connolly leather over matching carpets, with the obligatory highly polished woodwork on the dash, centre console and door cappings. There is some cracking to the leather on the driver’s seat base and a small scuff to the seatback, but otherwise the cabin is in excellent condition, the carpets protected by lambswool overmats, while an eight track player finishes it all off in a nice period touch. Only being sold due to the vendor’s ill health, the Corniche comes with its original Service book and a plethora of maintenance receipts. Overall, this is a lovely example whose value is sure to only go one way. Previously on Victorian club registration, the 1972 Rolls Royce Corniche convertible is being offered for sale here unregistered.
