Beschreibung

"The RMB Gentry is a British kit car styled to resemble an MGTF. It was offered for sale to the public by RMB Motors of Barwell, Leicestershire from 1974, with the original prototype having been completed at the end of 1973. There were 15 kits supplied in the first year, rising to over 80 per year by 1979. The company was formed by Roger Blockley who had worked for Triumph. The car was built on a modified Triumph Herald chassis supporting aluminium over marine ply body tub with an aluminium bonnet, engine bay sides and 'fuel tank', with fibreglass wings and doors. The rights to the car were sold in 1989 to S.P. Motors founded by Gentry owners, Mick Sinclair and Terry Phillips and they developed a Ford based version of the car. Mick Sinclair left the company in 1997 and the name changed to TP Motors who modified the design to take parts from the Ford Sierra. In 2001 the factory unit was sold and the company closed, selling the design in 2002 to the Vintage Motor Car Company based at Doncaster in Yorkshire but few if any cars were made. In 2008 the design moved to new owners who formed the Gentry Car Company based in Nuneaton and restarted production. This RMB Gentry is registered as a 1984 Triumph and is based upon a 1962 Triumph Courier, driven by the Triumph 1200cc Herald engine. The original buff logbook for the donor car is present as is the V5C registration document. Presented in red coachwork with black trim, this lovely example is offered with low mileage which is believed to be correct. This Gentry is clearly a labour of love with great attention to detail and quality of workmanship. The car benefits from a recent full service which included all new fluids, a new clutch and brake refurbishment. 2014 marked the 40th anniversary of the Gentry and over the years they have received quite the following, this is detailed in numerous copies of the Gentry Journal club magazine also supplied with the car. Also accompanying the car is full wet weather gear and picnic basket rack. What better way to enjoy the summer than with this attractive little sports car offered without reserve.
Guide price £5,000 - £6,000."
