Beschreibung
This is a beautiful 1937 Riley 9 HP "Brooklands Special". The car was born as a Riley 9HP Saloon and was professionally converted in 2016 based on drawings to create a faithful reproduction of the original. At the time, the work was carried out at a very high level and therefore the looks are as good as they can be.
The body looks beautiful and has been expertly built with the right details for that period such as round head rivets and a beautiful finish of the body. The bodywork, therefore, looks like it was built yesterday. The used sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The car is painted in a beautiful green colour that fits well with the model and the appearance of the car. The exhaust that runs on the side of the cabin completes the picture. The car is also equipped with beautiful 2.5-inch wide and 19-inch tall wire wheels with good tires in the correct sizes.
The interior looks beautiful. The Jaeger instruments are wonderfully clear and look beautiful. The seats and sides are upholstered in beige leather, which is also in very good condition. For the rest, the inside of the Riley is a spartan-looking affair. As you would expect from a real race car, the rest of the interior is wonderfully spartan and made of white aluminium. The pedals are beautifully close together so that you always have perfect control over the car.
The technology consists of a 1.082cc four-cylinder engine that produces 82 hp and is coupled to a manual transmission with four gears. The engine is equipped with two SU carburettors and produces a beautiful sound. The engine runs well through the revs and makes light work of the Riley weighing only 1,100 kilos. The engine and transmission were completely overhauled during construction. The car is also equipped with drum brakes all around and the suspension has also been adapted to the lower car weight after the conversion.
The entire conversion is beautifully documented by means of a large folder with invoices and construction drawings. The car is therefore easy to maintain because the way in which the car was built is fully present. Everything is included with the car, from drawing to flowcharts of the electrical wiring. In short, not only a beautiful Riley 9 Brooklands Special to see but also a real pleasure to drive thanks to the beautiful way in which the car is built.
