This Renault Turbo is known as one of the most dangerously exciting cars to drive, born from the days when manufacturers pushed to beat the rest and build the best!

No one would ever look at a standard Renault 5 and imagine that it could be modified, even heavily, to produce one of the coolest and most macho cars of the 1980s. However, when Renault’s Vice President of Production, Jean Terramorsi, got a hold of the project he became inspired instantly by what was the Lancia Stratos. Terramorsi then commissioned Marc Deschamps, Bertone Designer, to design a new sports version on the common Renault 5 Alpine. Terramorsi wanted a mid engine ,rear drive, turbo, manual, and aggressive sports hatchback that would shake the automotive world to its core amid the 80’s, and that’s exactly what happened!

Renault first released these machines with the R5 Turbo 1 (Never officially dubbed “Turbo 1”) at the Brussels Motor Show in 1980. They were an instant hit, and after a run of 1,820 Turbo 1’s Renault set out in 1983 to lower costs, but not suffer any performance loss, and pared down the Turbo 1 into what would become the Turbo 2. The Turbo 2 was a newer lighter version that become a very popular road car!

This example has been meticulously maintained, having traveled only 36,500kms from new, and has recently been uplifted from a private collection in Japan ready for a new astute owner. Only 3,167 of these R5 Turbo 2’s were made and this example has these highly desirable features/options:
