The first owner of this car, registered new in Switzerland in May 1982, was Jo Vonlanthen, Swiss Formula 3 Champion in 1972 who even took part in a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1975, in a Williams. Subsequently, he participated in several seasons of the Renault Europa Cup, including that of 1982 with, in all likelihood, the present car. As a certificate in the file testifies, he sold it in 1993 to a collector from St-German, in the Swiss Valais, who kept it for more than 20 years after having thoroughly overhauled the car, so that it was street legal again. A set of invoices detailing the work of this period is present.
In 2015, the car went into restoration, with the mechanicals checked and the hull (originally red) painted black. But the owner, who had high standards, became discouraged and sold it to an enthusiast, who was also a coachbuilder by trade, approved by the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles (FFVE). The latter completed the restoration which, of very good quality, gives a magnificent look to this historic car, both externally, as well as the underbody. Additional to the tuning of the engine, it has a few special features such as mechanically welded front suspension triangles of the Cévennes type, from the Europa Cup cars. Like the version delivered in Switzerland, it has electric windows.
This car is a superb example of a legendary model, with a very rich provenance.
