This factory right-hand-drive example is one of only 78 Matador sedans built in 1976 and is a highly collectible classic. This is a car that is rarely seen on Australian roads with such low production numbers.

Originally sold new at Premier Motors in Perth in April 1976, this Matador remained in WA and eventually formed part of the display at the Bodallin Motor Museum, as part of the John Ivey Collection.

The 'Willow Green' paintwork presents in reasonable condition for its age only showing some light crazing and patina. The 'Chamoiskin' upholstery is in fantastic condition and the cream-finished seat trim shows no splits as well as the roof lining, door cards and the dash showing minimal wear.

Powered by a 5.9L 360cui Typhoon V8 with 4-barrel carburettor, it produces a powerful 195Bhp. Paired to a 3-speed column mounted, Torque Command - automatic transmission, the configuration of this vehicle allows optimal driving performance and handling. The Australian assembled Matadors were equipped with power steering, power windows, air conditioning, and an AM radio.

A design with character was the Rambler Matador, boasting pleasing simplicity and character. A production series that made a breakaway from the ostentatious, these would make an excellent addition to any classic car collection.

The Australian-assembled Rambler Matadors were constructed from knock down kits at Australian Motor Industries (AMI) in Port Melbourne. Differing from Americas AMC Matador's they used locally sourced components to finish the cars to gain tariff concessions resulting in uniquely designed Australian examples. Targeted to the top market segment and advertised as the American luxury limousine made for Australians and built for Australian conditions.
