Ferdinand Porsche's design office built a small handful of tractor prototypes before the Second World War. One of the unusual features of Porsche's tractors (fitted to all models) was their hydraulic connection between the engine and the gearbox, which made it possible to change gears without using the clutch and therefore reduced transmission wear. In 1954, Mannesmann AG diversified into tractor construction by buying the rights to the Porsche engine and the Allgaier tractor concept, and established Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH. Built until 1963, Porsche's farm tractor quickly earned the same reputation for technical merit and build quality as their automobiles.

This Porsche Diesel Standard tractor was manufactured in 1959 and marketed by Hofherr-Shrantz in Vienna. Spending all of its life in Austria, it was restored in the course of the 2000s by an Austrian specialist of the German brand, paying great attention to detail. It was shortly after the end of its restoration in 2012 that its current owner, an enthusiast passionate about the Stuttgart firm, acquired it. Recently, this adorable tractor received new tyres and a complete new clutch mechanism.
Today in an excellent state of restoration and in working order, this Porsche Standard is the missing milestone of any Porsche collection and a significant part of the brand's history!

Le bureau d'étude du Ferdinand Porsche a construit une petite poignée de prototypes de tracteurs avant la deuxième guerre mondiale. Une des caractéristiques inhabituelles des tracteurs de Porsche (montée sur tous les modèles) était leur liaison hydraulique entre le moteur et la boîte de vitesses, qui permettait de changer de rapport sans débrayer et réduisait donc l'usure de la transmission. En 1954, Mannesmann AG se diversifia dans la construction de tracteurs en rachetant les droits du moteur Porsche et le concept du tracteur Allgaier, et créa Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH. Construit jusqu'en 1963, le tracteur agricole de Porsche acquit rapidement la même réputation de valeur technique et de qualité de construction que les automobiles.

Ce tracteur Porsche Diesel Standard fut fabriqué en 1959 et commercialisé par Hofherr-Shrantz à Vienne. Passant l'ensemble de sa vie en Autriche, il fut restauré dans le courant des années 2000 par un spécialiste autrichien de la marque allemande, ce dernier, apportant un grand soin aux détails. C'est peu après la fin de sa restauration, en 2012, que son propriétaire actuel, passionné par la firme de Stuttgart, en fait l'acquisition. Dernièrement, cet adorable tracteur a reçu des pneus neufs, ainsi qu'un mécanisme complet d'embrayage neuf.
Aujourd'hui dans un excellent état de restauration et en état de fonctionnement, ce Porsche Standard est le jalon manquant de toute collection Porsche, un véritable pan de l'histoire de la marque !
