Porsche achieved a ot of success in racing. The 924 Turbo especially flourished on the rally-stage. The 924 Turbo was used a template for its successor the 924 Carrera GT. Using data captured during competitions made it clear the Carrera GT would need an intercooler. The low inlet temperatures allowed a further increase of the compression meaning the engine develops 210 Ps up from the 924’s 170 Ps. The Porsche 924 Carrera GT also was fitted with wider fibreglass front and rear wings to accommodate the wider rims, Carrera stickers (a first for a non-911 Porsche), a font spoiler, bonnet air-inlet, a lager rear spoiler and seamless mounted front screen. This car also has the perspex headlights from a Carrara GTS. Only 406 Carrera GT’s were built by Porsche, of which 6 prototypes

and 400 street going versions. In the rarified Porsche world a very rare model. Not only is it rare it also drives supremely well, the 924 Carrera GT only weighing 1,121 Kg.

Our car was supplied from new in Germany in 1980. It comes in the very best colour for a Porsche 924 Carrera GT: Guards Red. From 2004 the car formed part of a collection for 15 years. Whilst the car had only run 70,500 km when the last owner bought the car, he did not wont to take any chances. The engine was rebuilt by a German 924 Carrera GT expert. The cost € 15,500. Literally everything was tackled, from water pump to distributor and from turbo to camshaft. Nothing was left to chance. Every gasket, the clutch and valves was replaced with new parts. Since then only some 2,000 km have been added to the total. The engine feels exactly as you would expect after seeing the bill for such extensive work: as new! The engine loves to climb up the revs and knows precisely how to handle the car’s low 1,121 kg weight.

Not only are the car’s mechanicals in pristine condition, both in and outside are also in good shape. The bodywork looks great. The fibreglass front and rear wings are in wonderful and well fitting condition. The fibreglass rear spoiler is also in good condition. The rest of the panelwork, again, is in good and correctly aligned shape. The stands proudly on its undamaged Fuchs wheels with correctly sized tyres. The fully original interior has black carpets and cloth upholstery. The car also has been fitted with a sunroof and rear windscreen wiper.

A lovely and rare top-quality 1972 Porsche 924 Carrera GT!
