Beschreibung

"Manufactured between 1965 and 1969, the Porsche 912 was very much the entry level Porsche sports car. Although, for some time, considered the poorer relation to the 911, the 912 is a serious sports car in its own right. With aerodynamic lines, low weight and an efficient engine, the 912 demonstrated good performance, nimble handling and economy, resulting in initial production cars outselling the 911. The 912 won Car and Driver's 1967 'Readers Choice' Poll for its class, a popular choice for motorsport teams and a rally prepared 912 won its class in the 1967 European Rally Championship.
Purchased as one of two early  Porsche’s from a deceased estate sale in South Africa, this fantastic 912 911 was subsequently imported to the UK and is now fully registered with the DVLA coming with its new V5C registration document and UK registration number MCK 434G. Clearly built with the racetrack in mind, the car sports a stripped out interior, bucket seats and rear roll cage. Lightness has also been ‘added’ through the use of some fibreglass panels. The engine  has been upgraded to Porsche’s famous flat-six, but the state of tune is unknown. Given that the car had been in storage for some time, it is fair to assume that it will require some recommissioning before hitting the track again. The vendor does report that the car runs, but has not taken any recommissioning work any further than that. Alternatively, the car would make a great candidate for restoration to factory specification, or alternatively as a ‘re-imagined’ 911 to the new owner’s specification.
Supplied with a V5C registration document, this fantastic track focused 912 is ready to thrill once again, it just needs an enthusiastic new owner to give it a new lease of life. Consigned by Will Penrose.
*Interested parties should note that contrary to the previous catalogue description, the chassis number for this vehicle shows it to have left the factory as a Porsche 912 rather than a Porsche 911, later being upgraded to 911 specification.
