What a pretty picture! The Short Wheel Base (SWB) Porsche 912 has always had a smart and pure appearance. And in this case it is totally a lust fro the eye. This ivory coloured example has red leatherette interior trim and according to its Certificate of Authenticity was produced in December of 1966. The car was initially supplied to California in the States and until recently had never left the state. Closer inspection of the certificate and a peak under the hood teaches us that this Porsche 912 has retained its original engine, in other words it is a matching numbers example. On top of the certificate there is also a car wallet with an owner’s manual and lots of maintenance history for the last 10 years. Studying the invoices we learn that although the car itself was in fine condition on the outside, the mechanics and interior trim have received the necessary treatment. It is quite clear that the previous owner invested a lot in preserving and maintaining this Porsche 912. The engine has been rebuilt using many new parts. The interior trim has been replaced keeping with the original colour scheme. A finally the car has been perfectly maintained. Thanks to the dry Californian climate the bodywork is totally sound and rust-free. The panelwork is original and correctly aligned. The paintwork is neat with only some small signs of exposure to the elements. The inside of the car looks pristine. Besides the new trim, things like the steering wheel, some of the instruments and gear knob where replaced to lift the quality to a higher level of perfection.As a result the interior is simply flawless. Mechanically the car feels as new. The engine runs perfectly and is very powerful. The 912 weighs less than the 911 which actually improves the roadholding. Thanks to the whole suspension being tackled during the overhaul the roadholding has been further improved.All the suspension rubbers have been replaced and a pair of original spec Bilstein shocks were fitted. It will come as no surprise that this Porsche 912 drives like a true 912 should; Fantastically! Roadholding has a lovely light touch because of the low weight and impeccable state of maintenance.
