Beschreibung
In 1972, Porsche introduced what has come to be regarded as one of its finest variations on the classic 911 platform: the 2.4 S. It featured a 190 hp, fuel-injected flat-six engine, improved type 915 transaxle, and myriad refinements that made the magnificently engineered sports car a well-rounded performer. Just 1,430 S coupes were completed for 1973, the final year of early 911 production.
According to factory records, this heavily optioned 911 S was built in May 1973, finished in Sepia Brown over beige leather, and equipped with sport seats, fog lights, electric windows, sunroof, air-conditioning, KONI shock absorbers, tinted glass, and Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio.
As recorded in its original maintenance book, this car was first sold via Jimmy Payne Porsche Audi of Memphis, Tennessee, to its first owner, Dr. J.S. Williford.
Years later, the Porsche was relocated to Mississippi, where it was acquired, in 1989, by its current custodian – an avid Porsche enthusiast and accomplished racing driver with an in-house race-prep and restoration facility. During the 1990s an exacting refurbishment took place, which included a full exterior repaint, mechanical refreshing, and a methodical cleaning of the entire vehicle. During this process, the displacement of the engine was increased to 2.7 liters and the factory sport seats were recovered in matching perforated leather. Accompanied by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, tools, owner’s manual, warranty book, and radio instructions, this beautifully presented 911 S has benefited from constant care and limited use since restoration, and would be a great candidate for Rennsport Reunion, touring and rally events or just cruising around town in sporting style.
With a truly impressive list of factory options, rare color combination and tasteful upgrades it could be argued that this is the ultimate 1970s-era 911 S.
