For many Porsche aficionados, the 1973 model year marks a high point in the 911 story. Not only did Stuttgart release the legendary Carrera RS 2.7, the standard model had benefitted from a decade of development yet retained the classic chrome bumpers. Although later 911s would enjoy further technical improvements, for many, the impact bumpers introduced in 1974 did little for the car’s aesthetics.

Aside from the limited-production RS, the 1973 line-up comprised the entry-level 911 T, the more powerful E, and the 911 S. All three benefitted from the latest 2,341 cc flat-six, which in the fuel-injected “S” developed 187 horsepower. Drive was transmitted via the new Type 915/02 five-speed transaxle, while a subtle chin spoiler improved high-speed aerodynamics of the 911 S.

Delivered to France on 1 May 1973, chassis 9113301111 left the factory equipped with desirable options including a sliding sunroof and Koni dampers, and is fitted with electric windows. Treated to a bare-metal restoration, this 911 is beautifully presented in its original colour scheme of Schwarz (700) with tan interior.
