Beschreibung
Matching numbers original specification 2,2 liter 911 E, confirmed by Porsche Certificate of Authentity. The car was first delivered in 1971 in USA by Porsche Car Pacific Inc – Burlingame, California. The car spent its time in California until early 1990´s. In July 1990 the car was for sale in the local Californian PCOA club publication. The car was in “great condition”, it had a rebuild engine and new paint. After this the car was sold to Japan where it was registered in February 1992. It spent over 20 years in Japan. The car was registered in Fukuoka and there are insurance documents from the 1990´s when the car has been used in Japan. Since then there is no documentation before November 2013 when the Japanese car dealer Graham Berry Co Ltd sold the car to Germany. The car was registered in Germany and in first half of 2014 it came to the market for sale. Carrera Classic bought the car in summer 2014 and imported it to Finland.
This car was a very original example and it has never before been renovated or it has never gone trough any major repairs for the chassi. It looks that the only repair for the car has been the small accident repairs and then repaint done in early 1990´s in California. It also looks that the car has been used very little during its time in Japan. In 2019-2020 the car has gone trough a full bare metal restoration to concourse condition, with minimum welding. The engine has been fully overhauled, but as it was inside like new, the larger part of the work was the external cosmetic restoration of the engine. The gearbox was also opened and fully overhauled.
The car has the front spoiler from the 1972 model 911 which has been installed later on as well the period correct Cibie Pallas lights on the front hood. The front spoiler improved the handling of the car significantly, thus many owners wanted to have it and it became a popular retrofit to early 1970´s cars. On the rear bumper the car has the AMCO style chrome bar which was also typical addition in the 1970´s. This car has also complete and functional “Evaporative Emission System” complying with the new environmental regulations at the time. This was the beginning of the strict Californian environmental controls which have strongly influenced the car designs since then. The car has all the original approval stickers related to these Californian regulations in place.
As the 1970/71 911S did not represent real performance increase to the 1969 model, Porsche tried to increase the performance with weight savings by using aluminum in the engine hood and rear license plate panels in 911S models. It seems that part of the 911E cars came also with these parts and in particular with the license plate panel made out of aluminum. This car is one of those with this original aluminum rear panel.
The 911E was introduced first time in 1969 model year with two liter engine to be the model between the S and the basic T model. The E came from the mechanical fuel injection which was in German language ”Einspritzung”. The first generation 2 liter E engine gave 140 bhp and the second generation 2,2 liter E engine produced in 1970-1971 gave 155 bhp. In total there were 1088 911 E Coupe cars build in model year 1971.
The car has a recent Classic Data evaluation report giving the car the best possible evaluation 1 (1-5). The car is road registered in Finnish Veteran Vehicle Register.
