1969 Porsche 911T 'R-Gruppe' 2.8-litre Coupé
Chassis no. 119122857
Engine no. 6274340

This amazing machine was built by well-known Porsche collector Johan-Frank Dirickx of 911 Motorsport in Belgium with the intention of creating a perfect 911 conforming to 'R-Gruppe' principles. Legendary among Porsche enthusiasts, the exclusive R-Gruppe was co-founded some 20 years ago by the late Chris Huergas and automobile designer Freeman Thomas. Once described by Huergas as a brotherhood not just a club, R-Gruppe is dedicated to modifying early Porsche 911s of the 1964-1973 period, taking its inspiration from the fabled Porsche 911 R, the factory's first lightweight racer, only 20 of which were made. Early on Porsche had recognised that many of its customers wanted to race, rally or hill-climb their 911s, so the company issued a document listing factory race parts and modifications for what it termed 'The Sports Purpose'. R-Gruppe revived this idea for the modern era, though there are no hard and fast rules as to what makes an R-Gruppe 911. Suffice to say that to qualify a car must have been modified and built with enhanced performance in mind.

Originally a standard 1969 Porsche 911T 2.0-litre coupé, this example was first built as an R-Gruppe car by previous owner Mori Megarzadeh in California and in 2008 was bought by Johan-Frank Dirickx, a founding member of the R-Gruppe's European chapter. Further prepared by Dirickx, this car has spent most of its time since his acquisition going sideways on European racetracks! Indeed, it has even been out on track in Abbeville, France with the famous Dutch racing driver and two-time Le Mans winner for Porsche, Gijs Van Lennep. Gijs much enjoyed the experience, and photographs of him drifting this Porsche 911 at Abbeville are on file. The car was also driven on the Nürburgring's dramatic Nordschleife circuit in 2009.

Every aspect of this 911 has been prepared with improved performance in mind, and a full listing of its specification is available. The main build was finished in 2009 and the gearbox overhauled in 2010. The engine is that of a 2.7-litre 911S, fully prepared to RSR specifications with MFI and twin-plug ignition, bored to 2.8 litres and producing close to 260bhp (dynamometer printout on file). Other noteworthy features include a Flow Master exhaust, an external fuel cap, Cibié lights, a new roll cage, and lovely period bucket seats.

Road legal and registered in Belgium, this car has been badged '911 MOTORSPORT EDITION 001' as the company's unique first creation. Since then they have built other R-Gruppe projects, all unique. This has car been featured in various Porsche magazines, including 911 & Porsche World in 2009 and Porsche Scene Live in 2011. Ready to be used and enjoyed, it represents a wonderful opportunity to own a unique and painstakingly detailed 911s, excellently prepared and guaranteeing immense fun on every outing.

The car is offered with Belgian registration documents; and information/preparation book by JFD Collection; a copy of the Porsche Kardex; some invoices for work carried out and plenty of photographs.
