Beschreibung

Rare Porsche - 911 S Targa Softwindow Series 0 from 1967, one of the first produced with the 'Targa' trim, which initially had a vinyl rear window and was therefore called 'Softwindow'. In the 0-series cars, the chassis numbers of the coupés were identified using 300 as the first digits, and the Targa models with 500 as the first digits. The chassis number of this car is part of the '500' series, in fact the chassis number is 500691.

Specifically, 718 cars were produced with this trim, of which, according to the manufacturer's figures, only around 250 were in the more powerful S version (see attached photo). It is therefore a very rare model. The chassis, gearbox and engine numbers match the original ones. Built in the first half of 1967, with the following options: blue-tinted windows, radio with antenna, loudspeaker, fog lights, Webasto heating, tool bag. It was finished by the factory in Polo Red with a black leatherette interior and was equipped by the factory with 4.5-inch Fuchs forged alloy wheels, produced in this size only for this model year and therefore very rare.

The spare wheel is made of steel and bears, as can be seen from the photos, a manufacturing date of 1967!
The car has matching numbers and was originally delivered to Gardena in California (USA). Thanks to the climate of this location, the state of preservation of the car was excellent. I purchased this car in 1998. The car was in a good state of preservation, free of rust holes and in good working order. A thorough preservative restoration was carried out, i.e. trying to save as much of the original components as possible with the highest quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The car was disassembled and thoroughly photographed.

The original colour, Polo Red, was applied using the correct Glasurit paint. Würth wax oil was applied to the hollow sections of the car for added rust protection. The interior has been reupholstered in the necessary places: the car still has the original 'nugget' fabric centre strip!
The engine was disassembled and internally overhauled according to original Porsche specifications. The carburettors were also completely overhauled. Heat exchangers were installed along with a new exhaust silencer. The transmission was disassembled and internally overhauled according to original Porsche specifications. Restoration work began in 2010 and was completed in 2014.
General wearing parts were replaced, the paintwork was professionally corrected, extensive detailing was carried out and other small additions were made to take this extraordinary car to the next level. You don’t often see such a sought-after car on the market in such an extraordinary condition.
It is a very reliable car, the 6-cylinder engine is the highest-performance version (160 hp) for that specific model year, it has excellent torque and starts up immediately.
The car comes from the USA, regularly imported into Italy with paid customs duties and registered in Italy.
It is possible to check the car at the Porsche Centre in Naples. The Certificate of Origin issued by Porsche Italia is also published.
