First presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the 911 went on sale the following year. The first version of what was to become a legendary car was powered by a 6-cylinder 2-litre engine producing 130bhp. In 1966, Porsche brought out the S variant developing 160bhp and equipped for the first time with Fuchs alloy wheels. Porsche continued to develop this sporting version, notably with the adoption of fuel injection in 1969 and the move to a 2.2-litre engine in 1970. This block was in turn rebored to 2.4 litres in 1972 and offered in T, E and S trim, producing respectively 130, 165 and 190bhp.

The 911 2.0 S which we are offering for sale is from the 1966 model year. It comes with a certificate from Porsche confirming that its chassis number is indeed that of a 911 2.0 S built in 1966. With its yellow paintwork and psychedelic appearance, this 911 S pays tribute to the 911 S/T 2.4 with which Gérard Larrousse and Maurice Gélin finished third in the 1970 Tour Auto. It is fitted with Recaro bucket seats, a half roll cage and racing harnesses. To improve its ease of use and mechanical reliability, the original engine has been replaced by a fuel-injected 2-litre 911 engine from 1969. Fitted with a large-capacity fuel tank, strut brace and cut-out switch, this 911 is eligible for numerous motorsport events, including the new 2.0L Cup organised by Peter Auto.
