Beschreibung
Engine No. 68J011220
Transmission No. 2J11957
Originally delivered via Zipper Porsche of Beverly Hills, California, this fully matching numbers example combines the 911 Turbo's looks and prodigious power with the open-air Targa body style - rarely seen in combination by the late 1980s. In fact, it is only one of 72 such examples so specified in 1988 for the North American market, retailing as the second most expensive Porsche available in the U.S.
Finished in its original colors of Grand Prix White over a Black leather interior, the original owner did not ignore the list of optional equipment available that year. A leather steering wheel with raised hub, heated sports seats with electrical height adjustment, a limited slip differential, and an Alpine CD-2 CD player with amplifier were all selected bringing the MSRP to over $75,000 when delivered on 20 November 1988. The service book notes that this Turbo Targa remained in California until at least 1989 with the CARFAX Vehicle History Report noting a sale in November 1990 with 14,125 miles on the odometer. By 2011, CARFAX confirms the car was exported from the United States and returned to Germany. The Warranty and Maintenance book stamps and service paperwork continue the story, indicating extensive initial servicing and restorative work in 2012 upon arrival at Porsche Zentrum Osnabrück (PZ Sportwagenzentrum) with additional work performed in 2013. By 2019, there had been a change in ownership and the car visited TP Engineering for an oil change, fresh brake fluid, new spark plugs, and an air conditioning recharge.
An impressively rare variant of the iconic 911 Turbo, this Beverly Hills-delivered Targa, now back in Germany, retains its original toolkit and owner's manuals and is offered with a history file and Porsche Deutschland-issued Zertifikat confirming its original build specification and fully matching numbers status.
