Beschreibung
Experimenting with turbocharging technology on their race cars during the late 1960’s, 1975 heralded the release of Porsche’s first turbocharged production car – the type 930 Turbo.
Initially designed as a homologation special I the spirit of the Carrera RS, the race-bred 930 Turbo went on to become Porsche’s premium production model for the 911 range between 1975 to 1989 and the world’s best supercar.
Adorned on almost all of our bedroom walls alongside its direct competition, the Testarossa and the Countach, the 930 Turbo offered a whirring purring air-cooled flat six-cylinder engine with single KKK turbocharger and Bosch electric fuel injection, a robust four-speed manual transmission to handle the immense raw power, independent front and rear suspension, ventilated and cross-drilled power disc brakes all beneath arguably the most evocative Porsche design ever penned.
In an evolution that spanned over a sum of 14 years, the Turbo journey started with the humble beginnings of the 3.0ltr flat-six from the Carrera RS and developing 256HP and concluding with 330HP from its 3.3ltr variant: in either variant, the 911 Turbo was not for the faint hearted. The later improvements saw upgraded braking system from the 917 race car, a hydraulic clutch and 5-speed transmission for driving ease, firmer shock absorbers and anti-roll bars and in integrated intercooler for the turbocharging system.
We are pleased to offer this rare matching numbers Porsche 930 Turbo, delivered new to the UK in 1986 and finished in its original Prussian Blue Metallic over Midnight Blue Leather and Porsche Script insert.
Equipped with ultra desirable Sports Seats and Seat Heating, Limited Slip Differential, Sunroof, Climate Control and Blaupunkt Bremen radio, it has enjoyed a complete and full service history from new, arriving to our shores in 2010. Since then it has had two local owners, continuing its glowing maintenance history with marque specialists with a major service complete just prior to bringing the car to market.
Today this stunning example presents in fantastic condition with all its coachwork unblemished, Porsche straight shut lines and all if its correct exterior features including passenger flag mirror, refurbished Fuchs wheels and Bosch headlights.
The interior is much the same, still stunning and in showroom condition showing very little signs of wear around the leather seats, bolsters and side door cards. Ther original switchgear remains in functioning order along with the rare heated seats and climate control air-conditioning.
In accompaniment are the original logbooks and ownership manuals all bound in its Porsche leather wallet. Additionally, two keys, service receipts and maintenance files over the past 15 years.
As Australia did not receive 930 Turbo allocation after 1985, this 1986 example is a rare find and in a condition befitting its well cared for ownership. To suit the most avid enthusiast and the most discerning collector, this exceptionally presented 930 Turbo is something very special.
