EXTERIOR
The iconic 4.0 RS is fast becoming the most collectable modern 911 with it’s limited number and supreme driver involvement. None more so than the rare 39 paint to sample examples that were produced in customer choice colours. This example is finished in coat of sparkling PTS Basalt black, a Porsche colour first introduced in 1995 as a premium option metallic black. Seen on some 993s, 996s and 997s including some of Porsches most collectable examples, the 993 Turbo S and Carrera GT, it features a gold metallic flake that comes to life in the direct sun with a brown tint. A subtle and smart take, over and above a solid or silver metallic black.

This example is as Porsche built it, a collectors dream of original paint all over and appears never to have been driven in the wet. The car still wears its original factory supplied tyres.

By design the 4.0 features aerodynamic upgrades, inclusive of flics at the front and a larger spoiler at the rear, downforce becomes a critical attribute to driving characteristics along with hydraulic steering, no rear steer and a race derived engine in its biggest cubic capacity. It is no surprise this is the pinnacle of modern Porsches for both a driver and the collector.

The adjustable carbon fibre wing, GRP engine cover and lexan rear window contribute to the lightweight theme with even the badge on the bonnet replaced by a sticker.

This example features some extra options including its mirror attachment points and headlight washer covers painted in its special colour sample metallic paint. The headlights also an option, upgraded to Bi-Xenon with Dynamic cornering lights.

INTERIOR
Bearing a strong resemblance to the race car variant with a roll cage, the interior also offers luxury and all modern day-to-day considerations. This particular example was a complete box ticking exercise when specified new and features nearly every option available. The extensive list includes the Carrera GT bucket seats, Extended stitched leather on the dashboard and door tops along with alcantara on the lower dash. Front lift, Cruise control, ASK sound package, Garage home link and Auto dimming mirrors along with Sport chrono plus, PCM 3 and floor mats make up what must have been one of the most expensive 4 litres sold.

As if these options weren’t already enough there are further rarely seen options specified when new. The centre console is not only covered in alcantara and embossed with Porsche logo but below is upholstered in black leather which extends to leather on the rear side panels. Illuminated carbon sill covers are a first for us to see fitted to a 4.0 along with the carbon belt trims.

With minimal mileage covered it presents beautifully throughout, as new with taut matte leather and a new car smell. The generous application of black leather and alcantara is broken up with silver grey stitching and red belts, door pulls and steering wheel centre marking all set off the interior and link the colour coding perfectly with the exterior.

The driving position is absolutely spot on with the full bucket seats combining sublime levels of road holding with excellent comfort.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the time this was the most powerful naturally aspirated unit that Porsche had ever produced and remains the largest race derived Mezger engine produced for the 911.

It fires into life with a menacing growl with that familiar GT3 RS chatter and rattle from the race spec flywheel – aurally similar to its RSR stablemate.

With full Porsche main dealer service history it is in perfect working order.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The GT wheels are painted Silver from factory and are wrapped in the original Porsche Pilot Sport Cup tyres that the car was supplied on from new.

The Porsche Ceramic brake system identified by yellow calipers and huge carbon discs show as new with minimal wear through the cars short life.

HISTORY FILE
A C00 German supplied car from new it was first supplied in its PTS colour and huge spec on 27/10/2011.

Changes of ownership has been minimal with the car retained by its first owner until 2013 before its second careful owner took charge for the next 7 years.

Serviced on time and solely by the Porsche main dealer the car has wanted for nothing and is not due its next serviced until 2021.

It is sat ready to register into the first UK owners name or exported on its German papers.
