Beschreibung

"The Speedster started as a design under Helmuth Bott in 1983 but was not manufactured until six years later. It was a two-seat convertible that featured a low swept windshield and low-roof cabriolet. Evocative of the 356 Speedster of the 1950s, the 911 Speedster was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987. It would be 16 months before production actually began with a limited 2,104 units built, starting in January 1989 until July 1989 as both a narrow body car and a Turbo-look.
The 3.2 litre Speedster was launched immediately prior to the introduction of the new Type 964 bodyshell and thus was the last 911 model to feature the old-style body based on the original design of 1963. The latter was reworked by chief stylist, Tony Lapine, incorporating numerous references to the original 356 Speedster as well as a pair of controversial 'camel hump' cowlings behind the seats that concealed the stowed-away manual top, a simplified affair described by the factory as for 'temporary' use only. From 1984, Porsche had offered the 'turbo-look' body style with flared wheelarches, large rear wing and deeper front spoiler on its normally aspirated models and this option was extended to the Speedster, the vast majority of which were ordered with it. One of the rarest of the 911 family.
This matching numbers example delivered new to Oregon, USA is showing a mere 11,848 miles on the odometer and is presented in its original colour combination of Grand Prix White over a black leather interior. The overall condition of the car is very good, the paintwork presents well and shows very little sign of age, it still bears the original paint code sticker on the underside of the bonnet and accompanying the car is the original tool roll. The interior, leather seats and steering wheel present accordingly with a car of such mileage and the Speedster hood and Fuchs alloy wheels are also in fine fettle. Complete with a sizeable history file including the original Porsche service and workshop booklets, sundry invoices, the UK V5 registration document and a MoT test certificate valid until 20th November 2020.
