This particular Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet was delivered new on the 27th of May in 1988 to Nurnberg, Germany. The car remained in Germany until it was exported to The Netherlands in 1996. In Holland the car was owned by a Porsche specialist, on whose behalf we sold the car to its current owner back in 2006.

This example benefits from an electric cabriolet top and is particularly attractive in its original colour configuration: Guards red or ‘Indischrot’ with a black ‘Schwarz Teilleder’ interior.

The front seats have been reupholstered seats in June 2026 so they are brand new and fresh for a new owner! In June 2025 the oil etc. has been changed, as well as the belt and the master brake cilinder. In 2014 the soft top has been renewed and is in very good condition.

Complete with original books, the original sticker under the bonnet and many invoices. This 38 year old Porsche 911 presents very well and recently has had a good detailing. The 3.2 Carrera with 231 bhp in European non catalyst version is a joy to drive. Quick and very reliable!

Model history

Introduced in 1984, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 succeeded the 911 SC and revived the Carrera name for the first time since 1977. Produced until 1989, it was the final development of the classic 911 generation before the arrival of the 964.

The Carrera featured a new 3.2-litre air-cooled flat-six engine with a displacement of 3,164 cc. Using the 95 mm bore of the 911 SC combined with the 74.4 mm stroke of the 3.3-litre Turbo crankshaft, it produced up to 231 bhp. Bosch Motronic engine management improved performance, reliability and fuel efficiency.

Early cars retained the five-speed Type 915 gearbox, while from 1987 the Carrera received the Getrag G50 five-speed transmission with a hydraulically operated clutch. Larger brake discs, improved timing-chain tensioners and upgraded oil cooling further enhanced reliability and performance.
With 231 bhp, the Carrera 3.2 could accelerate from 0–100 km/h in around 5.4 seconds in independent testing and reach approximately 240 km/h.

Available as a Coupé, Targa and Cabriolet, the Carrera 3.2 remained visually close to the preceding 911 SC. Its combination of classic 911 styling, strong performance and improved mechanical refinement has made it one of the most recognizable models of the classic 911 era.
