Beschreibung

Beginning in 1981, Porsche’s Sonderwunschprogramm (special order program) offered a Flachbau option – or slantnose – for the 930. Inspired by the contemporary 935 race car, an otherwise standard Turbo could be ordered with a more aerodynamic nose, retractable headlights, boxed rocker extensions, and straked vents ahead of the rear wheels. With a sticker price nearly double that of Porsche’s top-ofthe- line 930, very few of these “special wish” cars were ever built.

Finished in its original Guards Red with a Cashmere full-leather interior, this Turbo is believed to be one of 34 coupes delivered with the slantnose from the factory for 1984. As a European-specification S model, this Turbo features the desirable factory performance kit, which included a 330 hp engine, larger intercooler, quad-tip exhaust, and special front spoiler with built-in oil cooler. Other factory options include a center console with additional instrumentation, gold Porsche crests on the steering wheel and shift knob, adjustable boost controller knob covered in leather, digital boost gauge, and gold BBS wheels.

Imported to the US by Scottsdale Porsche + Audi, with federalizing reportedly handled by Alan Johnson Racing, this European-spec 930 S Slantnose has spent the majority of its existence in the US. Today, the Porsche presents very well in all respects, and is believed to be a low-mileage example with a limited chain of owners. For the collector searching for a prime example of a 1980s performance icon, a closer look at this ultra-rare Slantnose 930 is highly recommended.
