Presented here is a well-maintained, low-mileage U.S.-specification 1975 Porsche 911 2.7 Coupe in the beautiful color combination of Black (700) over Tan leather seats with gold Carrera graphics and wheel centers.

Porsche produced just 395 Carrera coupes for the American market in 1975. Cosmetically identical to Carreras sold in other markets, the U.S. version was fitted with an emissions-equipped, 165 bhp 2.7-litre engine with K-Jetronic fuel injection with power delivered through a Type 915 five-speed manual gearbox. G-series Carreras had flared front fenders and widened rear quarters to accommodate wider Fuchs forged alloy wheels and larger tires. Replacing the simple “burzel”, or ducktail, introduced on the 1973 RS 2.7, the 1975 Carrera’s rear spoiler was larger and rubber-edged. Its effect was balanced by a rubber front air dam. The new G-series cars also received new high-back driver and passenger seats and a leather-wrapped “Sports” steering wheel.

This attractive example was purchased new by Captain George Solhan, of Baltimore, Maryland. An officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, Solhan was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island when he took delivery and amazingly would own the car until 2013, when it was sold to the current owner. It has recorded just 57,887 miles at the time of cataloging. The consignor states that it has been serviced meticulously by marque specialists RPM in Lorton, Virginia, near Washington, DC.
Nicely optioned with an electric sunroof and windows, and under-bumper fog lamps, it is also equipped with a Pioneer cassette stereo, an unusual Nardi-badged wooden gearshift knob, and European H1 quad-bulb headlamps. The car has been lowered to European ride height, and it has been fitted with upgraded chain tensioners, new shock absorbers, suspension bushings, and alternator. The cams have been properly timed and the engine tuned on a dynamometer.

Supplied with its original window sticker, original invoice, detailed maintenance records from new including its original warranty book and a maintenance log book kept by the first owner, a set of factory shop manuals with supplements, two keys, air compressor, and a tool set. Importantly, the car retains its original U.S. title and is currently registered in Finland. Overall, this Carrera displays a patina expected in a 45-year old car. While the exterior paint is largely original, the left-rear quarter was resprayed in 1976 following a minor accident and there are a few rock chips and scrapes. The interior is in very good condition with an excellent dash top, although the off-white headliner is water-stained and the sunvisors have delaminated, a common fault in cars of this age. Its original emissions equipment is included.

A careful respray of the left quarter, replacement of the headliner, sunvisors, and front rubber air dam – all readily available through dealers or the aftermarket – will return this fine Carrera to its original appearance.
