"The iconic 911 can trace its history back some 44 years; its family tree containing such memorable cars as the 911S, the 2.7 Carrera RS and the notorious Turbo. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, it has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. Model year 1974 saw three significant changes. First, the engine size was increased to 2,687cc achieving higher torque. Second, new impact bumpers conformed with low-speed protection requirements of US regulations. Thirdly, the use of K-Jetronic CIS Bosch fuel injection in two of the three models in the line up, the 911 and 911S models, retaining the narrow rear arches of the old 2.4, now had a 2.7-litre engine producing 150bhp and 173bhp respectively. Our vendor states that this Turbo bodied 911 was supplied and originally registered in the UK; a 1974, 2.7 litre 911 upgraded to a later type 930 turbo with wide body turbo wings and whale tale spoiler. Finished in Guards Red with matching red trim and dash, the car has recently had a new clutch and represents great value for entry level 911 ownership or indeed to return it to its 1974 looks. Having spent some time in Ireland before being repatriated to the UK, little is known of the history of this Targa and therefore the 27,434 miles cannot be warranted; however, it is clear that some significant expense has been lavished on the car quite recently.
