Beschreibung

The potential of the 911 Coupe in motorsport was soon realised by Porsche and enthusiasts alike. The ST package of tuning modifications was designed to satisfy that need by Porsche. Only 49 factory 911 ST's were assembled ‘in house' and many privateers purchased the standard 911S 2.2 and fitted the tuning parts. The exponent of this in 1970 was Erwin Kremer who took his 911ST to a seventh overall finish at Le Mans that year. Further successes were achieved at Daytona, Sebring and the Targa Florio. It also flourished as the car to beat in rallying. The ST was really the catalyst for every Porsche 911 motorsport derivative that was to follow for the next 40 years.

Offered here is a Porsche 911 ST Evocation with recent links to the late great ex-WRC period 911 driver, Bjorn Waldegard. In 2011, driving this car Bjorn won at the Aarhus Classic event in Denmark.

The donor car for the build was a 1972 911T, side oil filler model, purchased in Switzerland as a rust free example only requiring new sills when fully prepared for racing. The body was completely stripped and preparation to ST specification started with a bare metal body shell and painted in its original colour of Hellelfenbein (Light Ivory).

It has been built in a 100% accordance to FIA Appendix K and homologation form 3025 and now has a full International FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP).

The work to create this ST included the fitting of lightweight GRP wings, engine cover and bumpers. All the suspension parts were either replaced with genuine Porsche parts or checked and re-galvanised. Featuring Bilstein dampers and 29mm/23mm roll bars with further softer spares. The car comes with two sets of 8x15 and 9x15 wheels refurbished by Porsche's own supplier and is complete with all the required safety items such as full race harness, structural roll cage and fire system.

The engine is from the original 1971 911T and is the sought after 2.2S upgraded to full ST specification and 2381cc. It has new LN Engineering cylinders and JE pistons. The cylinder heads have new valves, guides and seats with 38mm porting and ‘S' camshafts fitted. Also present is the Bosch 'twin plug' ignition with new original coils and CDI control boxes. It has the factory correct MFI injection pump upgraded by Bosch to race spec and original 38mm throttle bodies and stacks in magnesium. The type 911 gearbox has close ratios fitted and also a racing limited slip differential.

With 240bhp on tap and weighing only 906 kilos, this is a very competitive package and potential winner in it's historic class in a variety of current different European historic series.
