OVERVIEW

The Porsche 911 remains today one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced. Available in a wide range of configurations spanning six decades or superlative engineering, Porsche has continually improved on each iteration, incorporating decades of racing expertise into the many variants of the 911 – each one uniquely suited to a range of owner preferences and driving styles.

The 997 was offered in several performance variations over the model run, but among the most desirable was the final year 2012 3.8 liter GTS. The engine put out a ground shattering 408 hp via the amazingly quick PDK transmission, resulting in a jaw-dropping 0-60 time of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph.

Contemporary motor press lauded the Porsche GTS for amazing performance when pushed to the limit, but also for its surprising ease and general use as a comfortable road car even under daily driving conditions. Competitively priced when new, highly optioned pre-owned examples with solid histories are becoming more sought after by enthusiasts who prefer a well sorted car that can be enjoyed regularly without the fuss and expense of a brand-new example.

This factory black on black GTS was ordered new with both performance and comfort in mind. According to a copy of the factory Porsche Build Card, this GTS was ordered with the following options:

220 Limited Slip Differential

250 Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)

514 GTS Sidestrip Silver

603 Bi-Xenon headlights

640 Sport Chrono Package Plus

672 Extended Navigation Mod-PCM 3.0

680 Bose Surround Sound System

686 SiriusXM Sat. Radio Tuner

78 Black Full Leather Interior

A1 Black

P01 Adaptable Sport Seat with Leather and Drive Memory

XAA Aerokit Cup

XSX Seat Belts in Guards Red

Originally delivered to the first owner in Arizona, the car remained with the second Arizona owner until sold to the third owner, located in Boise, Idaho. According to the Carfax, miles accrued on the car with regular services at appropriate intervals including passing required emissions for the state of Idaho. Among the many Porsche installed options, a previous owner updated the car with a performance exhaust system including Cargraphic headers, aftermarket front Brembo brakes, and a COBB Tuner. In addition to general services including oil changes, air filter changes, wheel alignment, and belts, in August 2019 with 62,783 miles, the PDK was serviced and the fluids were changed. In August 2020 with 64,868 miles, the sparkplugs and ignition coils were replaced. Recently the car has been fitted with new front floor mats and new rear tires.

Today the car presents confidently with factory black paint in very good condition overall, showing evidence of use in typical areas. The dramatic Aerokit factory package gives the car a sinister, hunkered down presence, particularly finished in gleaming black. The front bumper cap appears to have been repainted and while the paint revealed digital meter test numbers consistent for factory paint, the left rear fender paint number presents higher than the rest of the car (verified with service record for repaint to remove several dents in 2016).

The finish overall is very satisfying, proudly showing evidence of road use, typical of a car with 65,000 miles. The glass is in excellent condition including a brand new Porsche OEM windshield. The lighting and glossy finished lenses are all in excellent condition throughout including the silver GTS script lettering. The black spoke and polished alloy wheels are in good condition with minor rock chip marks but no curb rash. Bridgestone tires show ample remaining tread on the front and a brand-new set of Bridgestone tires mounted on the rear.

The interior is handsomely finished with supple leather and textured plush inserts delivering a nice visual break from the monotony of a mono-material interior. The seating surfaces show no significant marks or prominent wear to the premium materials, though one area of the center console is showing signs of age. The center console housing the 7-speed PDK gear selector, navigation center, entertainment, and other precision controls is handsomely arrayed with race-inspired nomenclature, offering easy access and confident response. The dashboard and assorted instrumentation properly illuminate, displaying key operational features and systems status for critical mechanical features.

The condition of the carpeting, door panels, and other interior surfaces is generally very good with minor use showing on the driver’s side foot area and typical door threshold scuffs. Seated inside the car, and belted with the contrasting red seatbelts, the driving position is comfortably laid out and ready for action with great visibility, natural positions for critical control surfaces, and of course a premium sound system that only the Bose and Sirius entertainment combination can deliver. Even without the sound system engaged, the premium sound from the 3.8 Liter engine, rapid shift PDK transmission, and Sport Chrono package offer plenty of aural entertainment for even a modest enthusiast.

The engine compartment has been thoughtfully maintained and properly serviced per recommendations. Porsche factory components are present and in very good cosmetic condition. Inside the front storage area, ample room is available for cargo or small travel bags, maintained in excellent factory condition. The underside of the car, suspension and driveline casings are nicely maintained, clean, and free from any significant scuff marks or notable damage.

The car starts easily, with a rich and deep idle in part due to the premium performance exhaust system. The PDK transmission is everything you would expect from Porsche, offering crisp split-second shifting both as a performance car or when modestly cruising in daily traffic. Road manners are exceptional to exhilarating depending on your mood and courage. As any premium Porsche will do, this GTS delivers a confident ride and excellent with ample entertainment for long drives via the premium Bose sound system. A complete set of owner’s manuals accompany the car along with selected records.

Offering superb engineering, iconic design, and the compelling heritage of Porsche’s legendary 911, this beautiful Carrera GTS delivers sporting aesthetics and race-derived performance in a wide range of driving conditions. Offering undisputed performance excellence and uncompromising quality, this Porsche Carrera GTS is perfectly at home being driven with sporting intent or simply or as a casual weekend getaway from the pressures of the day, leisurely rewarding you with precision engineering and unbeatable performance at your fingertips.

California residents please note that due to the modified exhaust system this car should be considered a 49-state offering as California emissions requirements will require the factory type exhaust to be installed.
