Beschreibung
Introduced in 1997, the Type 996 marked the largest evolutionary leap in the 911’s 34-year history, transitioning from air- to water-cooled engines for enhanced performance as well as to meet increasingly strict emissions and noise regulations. As per Porsche tradition, several variants were offered including a 4S for the 2002 model year. Based on the Turbo, the 4S featured a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six developing 320 hp, all-wheel drive, revised suspension, larger brakes, and flared rear quarter panels.
This 2004 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S was delivered new to its current owner through Advantage Porsche Audi of Houston in March 2004. Finished in extra-cost Atlas Grey Metallic over a black full-leather interior, this 996 was specified with a six-speed manual transaxle, as well as optional xenon headlamps, sport exhaust system, heated front seats, Bose sound package, aluminum-look instrumentation, stainless steel tailpipes, and door entry guards. Also equipped was the factory Aerokit which cost $7,980 and added a front spoiler, rear wing, and flared side skirts.
Accompanied by its original window sticker, books, keys, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this one-owner example presents very well today with under 20,000 miles showing on its odometer at the time of cataloguing. Sporting the desirable six-speed manual transaxle and rarely seen Aerokit, this Atlas Grey Carrera 4S is young enough to be enjoyed every day or treasured as an up-and-coming collectible.
