Beschreibung

Launched in 1997, the new Porsche 911 type 996 replaced the very desirable 993, which was the last model to be fitted with the famous air-cooled flatsix engine. This new generation of the 911 represented a major break with the traditional specifications and design philosophy and it incorporated many innovations. The engine was now water-cooled and one of the consequences of this was that the rear of the car needed to become considerably more voluminous.
The traditional round headlights were dropped, in order to cut costs, and replaced by units shared with the Boxter. These important changes caused much discussion in the 911 community and even if the new 996 was resented by many, it gradually gained a following and its sales rose 40% higher than those of its predecessor. The increased dimensions and the shape of this new generation ended up by making the 993 look old fashioned and the 964 even more so. 18 cm longer and 3 cm wider, this 911 had much more interior space and the dashboard, also shared with the Boxter, was considerably more ergonomic.
The performance stepped up to a higher level. The new 3387 cc flat-six produced 300 bhp at 6800 rpm and enabled the car to cover a kilometer from a standing start in less than 25 seconds. The usable rev range of the engine was much more easy to exploit and its completely new 6-speed manual gearbox became the benchmark in comparison with the Tiptronic box. More comfortable and easier for current use, the 996 took the 911 into the modern era.
The 911 Carrera 3.4 litre we are presenting has had two owners and is in impeccable condition. The odometer reading is a mere 54 000 kilometres and the car has always been regularly maintained since it was first bought in August 2001. Its first owner, who lived in Paris, had it serviced at the Porsche Centre at Levallois, as is shown in the service record. The two most recent services have been carried out by Franck Ravé at the Arpajon Porsche Centre, the last of these in February 2017 at 48 221 km (invoice in file).
Many wearing parts have been replaced and the result is a car with excellent road manners and perfect reliability. The car has a full range of options, which include 18'' Turbo Look wheels, cruise control, PSM (Porsche Stability Management), PCM (Porsche Communication Management), telephone installation, 6 CD stack, xenon headlights and electrically operated sunroof. It is difficult to find such a well-equipped car, with such a low odometer reading and in such impeccable condition. Still undervalued by the market compared with the previous air-cooled models (but this will not last), there is no doubt that this 996 is a judicious buy which should be seized without hesitation, in view of its modest cost.
