With this GT3 RS, Porsche did not chase more power or less weight, but downforce. At 285 km/h the car generates 860 kg, twice as much as the previous GT3 RS and three times as much as a standard 992 GT3.

You do not get there with a big wing alone. Porsche replaced the three radiators with one large, angled radiator at the front, a solution taken directly from the Le Mans 911 RSR. It now sits exactly where every other 911 has its luggage compartment, and the space freed up in the front wings went entirely to active aerodynamics. Even the suspension wishbones were given an aerofoil profile, contributing forty kilos of their own at top speed. There is a DRS button on the steering wheel, exactly where a standard 911 has its voice control, and alongside it lets you adjust the damping and the limited-slip differential on the move using rotary dials. That is something you normally only do in a race car.

This example is finished in Ultraviolet through Paint to Sample, the colour Porsche used in 2015 to introduce the 991 GT3 RS to the world.

Fun fact: Porsche sums it up best themselves. At 285 km/h, the car is pressed into the road by the equivalent of a complete 356 A.

Bij deze GT3 RS koos Porsche niet voor meer vermogen of minder gewicht, maar voor neerwaartse druk. Bij 285 km/u genereert de auto 860 kg, twee keer zoveel als de vorige GT3 RS en drie keer zoveel als een gewone 992 GT3.

Dat haal je niet met een grote vleugel alleen. Porsche verving de drie radiatoren door één grote, schuin geplaatste radiator vooraan, een oplossing die rechtstreeks uit de 911 RSR van Le Mans komt. Die zit nu precies waar bij elke andere 911 de koffer zit, en de ruimte die daardoor vrijkwam in de voorspatborden ging volledig naar actieve aerodynamica. Zelfs de draagarmen van de wielophanging kregen een vleugelprofiel en leveren op topsnelheid veertig kilo op. Op het stuur zit een DRS knop, precies op de plek waar in een gewone 911 de spraakbediening zit, en daarnaast stel je al rijdend de demping en het sperdifferentieel bij met draaiknoppen. Dat is iets wat je normaal alleen in een racewagen doet.

Dit exemplaar is gespoten in Ultraviolet via Paint to Sample, de kleur waarin Porsche in 2015 de 991 GT3 RS aan de wereld voorstelde.

Leuk detail: Porsche vat de aerodynamica zelf het mooiste samen. Bij topsnelheid drukt er evenveel gewicht op de auto als een complete 356 A.

Avec cette GT3 RS, Porsche n'a pas cherché plus de puissance ni moins de poids, mais de l'appui. À 285 km/h, la voiture génère 860 kg, soit deux fois plus que la GT3 RS précédente et trois fois plus qu'une 992 GT3 standard.

On n'y arrive pas avec un seul grand aileron. Porsche a remplacé les trois radiateurs par un seul grand radiateur incliné à l'avant, une solution reprise directement de la 911 RSR du Mans. Il se trouve désormais exactement là où toute autre 911 loge son coffre, et l'espace ainsi libéré dans les ailes avant a été entièrement consacré à l'aérodynamique active. Même les bras de suspension ont reçu un profil d'aile et apportent quarante kilos à eux seuls à vitesse maximale. Sur le volant se trouve un bouton DRS, exactement là où une 911 ordinaire place sa commande vocale, et à côté on ajuste en roulant l'amortissement et le différentiel autobloquant à l'aide de molettes. C'est quelque chose que l'on ne fait normalement que dans une voiture de course.

Cet exemplaire est peint en Ultraviolet via Paint to Sample, la teinte que Porsche a utilisée en 2015 pour présenter la 991 GT3 RS au monde.

Anecdote: c'est Porsche qui résume le mieux son aérodynamique. À vitesse maximale, l'équivalent d'une 356 A complète appuie sur la voiture.
