Beschreibung
Transmission: 4 gears, Semi-automatic
Registration number: PO-23-89
In 1989, Porsche introduced the new 911, internally referred to as the 964. The shape of the body remained largely unchanged, but typical 80’s features such as the rubber accordion bumpers were replaced with smoother ones. Not only the looks were new, but Porsche stated that a whopping 85% of the car was different. The most notable changes included an automatically deployable rear spoiler, a beefier six-cylinder boxer engine, and optional all-wheel drive. These were welcome modifications to an otherwise classic Porsche. The Tiptronic transmission also made its debut, an automatic gearbox that could be manually operated using the '+' and '-' on the gear lever.
Porsche, of course, introduced various special versions, one of which was the Factory Turbo Look, also known as the WTL version. This was an extremely exclusive edition with only 1,532 units produced by Porsche. The defining features of the WTL were the wide hips, borrowed from the Turbo model. The enormous rear arches, nicely filled by the 17" Cup wheels, appeared even wider because the Turbo's rear spoiler was absent. Especially when viewed from three-quarters of the rear, the 964 WTL Cabriolet was an impressively stunning car.
This particular 964 was delivered in 1992, the first year the WTL was available, and production continued until 1993. Only 433 units of the 964 WTL convertible were built with the Tiptronic transmission. Considering the rare Turquoise (L35X) paint colour, it can be assumed that only a handful of cars were built in this configuration. With just under 76,000 kilometres on the clock, it is also a car with minimal use meaning its condition is properly described as being excellent.
Let's start with the exterior: the green-blue paint looks beautiful and has a deep shine. The colour is striking yet understated, neither flashy nor dull. Combined with the fresh silver-grey Cup wheels, it presents an incredibly crisp car. The stylish grey interior is also in excellent condition. The leather upholstery is intact and completely original. It shows signs of careful use, resulting in the side bolsters, seat, steering wheel, and gear stick all being in optimal condition, matching the low mileage and age. The seats are fantastic; in those days, no car manufacturer could produce such well-fitting sports seats as Porsche did, as evidenced by this 31-year-old Porsche from the moment you step inside.
The 3.6-litre M64 engine made its debut in this model, the 964, with a power output of 250 hp and torque of 310 Nm. Impressive figures when the first owner picked up this stylish and wide 911. It has a top speed of 257 km/h! The 964 Carrera WTL convertible has been meticulously maintained and drives superbly. Power, torque, and smoothness combined with the solidity and feel that Porsche manages to incorporate into all its cars make it a delight for both sporty rides and long-distance travel.
This 964 was originally supplied in Belgium and was sold a few years ago as a "Porsche Approved Occasion" in the Netherlands, indicating the clean history of this magnificent classic in the making. The Porsche comes with a file containing documentation such as maintenance invoices, reports, registration documents, and the original service book.
In summary, we can only conclude this is a highly original and correct example with an incredible presence and delightful driving characteristics.
