Porsche's 1996 Carrera RS is considered the ultimate sweet-spot when it comes to collectible air-cooled 993s. They are extremely rare on US shores, and as a motorsport variant with N/GT homologation cred, look the part - especially when optioned as a M003 Club Sport.

This example was finished at Porsche 27 July 1995 before being shipped to Mizwa, the sole Porsche importer in Japan. Despite Japan's economic issues beginning in the 1990s (see Lost Decade) those on the island nation continued to have an insatiable appetite for Porsche cars and their special motorsport variants. Finished in Grand Prix White this 1996 model year Carrera RS was optioned as an M002 spec RS with the additional M003 Club Sport aerodynamic package. With this additional cost Club Sport aero pack, the original owner received a sculpted front bumper with winglets and deeper chin spoiler. Towards the back, a large fixed wing with integrated intakes provided additional downforce to balance the front. Rolled wheel arches, thinner glass, and an aluminum front trunk lid completed the motorsport modifications on the exterior. The motorsport theme continued inside with a black partial leather interior and fixed fiberglass Recaro bucket seats with unique German fashion sense in White/Grey/Black multi-colored inserts, a must for any 1990s RS.

The first Porsche 911 to come with a 3.8-liter VarioRam engine, the 993 RS featured the Type M64/20, an engine specific to the RS, with a strengthened valve drive mechanism and bigger intake and exhaust valves. With its cylinder bore increased, the RS now displaced 3746 cc and produced an additional 28 horsepower over the standard 993. Unlike many 25 year old Porsches this RS retains the correct Japanese language owner's manuals, correct dash mounted radio, its jack, and toolkit. Imported to the USA under Show and Display in 2016 it had passed beyond the 25 year rule and, as such, is free from the bonds of its imposed restrictions. A spectacular vintage, the balance and poise of the 993 Carrera RS has been recognized by many across the world and is now available to savor in the USA.
