Beschreibung

The Porsche nameplate has long been synonymous with continuous refinement. This began with their original sports coupe, the 356, which advanced from the “Pre-A” era, through the 356 A, 356 B and, finally, the 356 C. With each year, continual enhancements were introduced. For the 356 B, as presented here, upgrades ranged from the introduction of the Karmann-built hardtop in 1961 to the T-6 body style in 1962. Most notably, the ability to select the Super trim level offered 15 additional hp.

According to its accompanying Porsche Kardex copy, this 1963 Super Coupe was delivered new through Pacific Porsche of Burlingame, California, and was finished in a stunning shade of Ruby Red over black leatherette. Extensively documented throughout its ownership history, the 356 spent the majority of its life in Northern California before being purchased by J. Kennedy in 2001, and relocated to Tennessee. Pride of ownership is apparent, as the original body remains in phenomenal condition, retaining details such as the Sigla and Sekurit etched glass and enamel-crested hubcaps, as optioned from the factory.

In recent years, period-style upgrades such as a Blaupunkt radio and Lietz luggage rack have been fitted. Furthermore, the front hydraulic drum brakes were replaced with a more contemporary disc-brake setup, and new tires were installed. Complemented with extensive records and documentation, this remarkable example is ideally suited for any collection.
